Police Nab Unical Solar Batteries Thief
In what appears to be a major breakthrough, the police have arrested a certain Stanley Osim who is suspected to have stolen batteries from the solar-powered street lights in the University of Calabar. According to a police source, the said Stanley Osim who resides in one of the Boys Quarters on campus, was caught with four of the stolen batteries. The source further disclosed that the suspect has been arraigned before a Magistrate's Court in Calabar. The case will be heard on 14/08/17.
It will be recalled that the management of the University of Calabar had some months ago reported that fifty-four batteries installed in the solar-powered street lights had been stolen.
Reacting to news of the arrest, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Zana Akpagu, thanked the police for arraigning the suspect and expressed the hope that this will lead to the recovery of the remaining fifty batteries. Also speaking, the immediate past Vice-chancellor of the university Prof. James Epoke, advised management to address the issue of tenants in the Boy's Quarters of staff with a view to curbing the reported cases of criminali
